“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” – Psalm 34:18, NLT

COUNSELING PHILOSPHY
Life is full of uncomfortable, transitional seasons in which “things don’t make sense.” Sometimes, people enter these seasons by making poor choices, and sometimes transition is forced upon them by others’ poor choices, or a sudden loss. Nonetheless, I am confident that people can heal and recover – no matter how broken they may feel. I am a hope-bearer. I am honored to walk alongside people through some of their darkest moments of uncertainty, grief, and brokenness, carrying the light of hope for them until they find the strength to hope again. My goal is to be a warm, genuine person with whom people feel seen, heard, and accepted. I desire to get to know you and hear your story. I do not have all the answers, but I am convinced each person is born on purpose for a purpose.

 EXPERIENCES THAT INFLUENCE MY PRACTICE
I am an ordained Assemblies of God minister. Prior to entering the clinical counseling field, I gained over 15 years of diverse experience developing and implementing programming for long-term, faith-based residential care for men and women (and their families) who are recovering from addiction, trauma, and the unhelpful life habits that addiction creates. I also served in urban youth ministry and a rescue mission for people overcoming homelessness. I am a speaker, teacher, writer, and nonprofit leader. I’m passionate about redeeming forgotten people, infusing them with Christ-centered hope and empowering them to thrive. I’m determined to create upstream solutions for addiction, homelessness & drug-endangered children through innovative concept development.

AREAS OF CLINICAL FOCUS

I provide individual, family, and couple counseling for clients ages 10-65+.I am clinically competent to assess, diagnose and treat individuals with Mood & Anxiety Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, and ADHD. That said, my approach focuses more on “what happened” to a person, rather than “what is wrong” with them. Once someone identifies the root of their pain, I focus on helping them heal from the inside out. Together, we develop new strategies for coping with pain and stress, building resilience to face life’s hardships. I empower people to discover their strengths and identity, so they can fulfill their purpose. I believe that people are also designed to function within healthy, meaningful relationships – thus, I endeavor to support them in maximizing their relationships – so they learn to recognize and repair unhealthy patterns, reconcile fractured bonds through forgiveness, appreciate one another for their differences, and confidently communicate their love for one another, while setting limits with each other.
